My friend Melissa Marquardt is a pro wakeboarder who hands down kills it behind a boat. You would think that we’d be wakeboarding a lot when we hang out right? Well for some reason, every time we hang out we end up skateboarding, surfing or snowboarding. Damn it Melissa, take me wakeboarding already!! Haha. Anyhow, I’ve never met anyone else who is this versatile. Skate, surf, snow, wake, wakeskate…..razoring, heelys, carpet skates, Melissa kills it on all! She came down to the Osiris office awhile back and we sessioned the quarter pipe we have behind our building with my boys Kent and Jimmy who hold down international sales at Osiris. One of the few perks of the job. After that we cruised over to Ocean Beach skate park to meet up with Annie for a quick shred. Good times…next time we will be getting gnarly on carpet skates….get ready people, get ready.

June 21st is a holiday. For the past 2 years, I’ve spent this joyous day cruising with Annie Sullivan and a sea of yellow at Sector 9′s annual boardwalk poker run. This year was no different – another beautiful day in Mission Beach, CA. Doesn’t get much better than this people. I hung out with Annie, as well as Sector 9 surfers Jen Smith and Kim Mayer. Fun crew, fun times. Check out pics from the day as well as a little skate down memory lane…

This past Wednesday, despite going against my strong policy of driving up to LA twice in one week (the rage I get from sitting in LA traffic seriously takes years off my life) I cruised back up to Hollywood for Billabong’s “Design For Humanity” event at The Avalon. I met up with my friend Val from Spy Optic along with her roommate Ashmore and we carpooled up from Oside. In LA, we met up with my friend Jenn, who works for E! as well as Kailee from Transworld Biz. Despite my deep hatred for the LA scene, I have to say we had a great time. Billabong put on an awesome event – fashion show/concert/party – all for charity. I will also add that they did a killer job with the whole marketing campaign for the event as well – loved the graphics, ads, video teasers, etc, etc. and yes, I still hate LA.

Last friday Osiris sponsored the after party for the 11th annual Transworld Skate Awards in Hollywood, CA at the Avalon Theater. My buddy James came along with me to experience the mayhem and mayhem it was. A skateboarding award show is not complete without tall boy PBRs, girls showing their tits on stage and enough cigarette smoke to give the population of a small country lung cancer. However it was of course good times as I ran into some friends and familiar faces, like our ex-skate team manager Mr. Coung. The highlight of the night was definitely seeing the LA pro hos mingling with a bunch of dirty skateboarders…I dont know, something about coked out/face painted on girls in four inch heels and greasy dudes in flannels and beanies at the same party makes for great entertainment.
The theme of the after party was none other than Mr. Corey Duffel (osiris team rider and all around awesome guy). We decked out the after party venue with portraits of Corey and Corey’s girlfriend’s band (mister loveless) performed. The only thing radder than being a girl in a band of dudes is being the girl in a band of dudes who is the drummer…sick! Corey and his girlfriend Rachel are cool ass people and same goes with Shuriken and his girl Ashley. Props to them for contradicting the dirtbag skateboarder stereotype, they are pretty much the exact opposite of that. Oh yes and props to my marketing buddy William who pimped out the after party venue…genius Will, genius. Fun times in Hollywood but I still hate LA.

Jimmy Carlin is an awesome skateboarder who rides for Osiris, but he is even more awesome if you are stuck in a van for 8 hours. Here is why:

Another pic from China. We really didn’t see many foreigners while we were there and when we did, they definitely stuck out, usually because they were taller than everyone else and didn’t have black hair. This lady stuck out because she looked like a mascot for Pepto Bismo. I mean, don’t get me wrong I like pink but this lady desperately needed some fashion direction.

I took this a couple of months ago, back in March i think. Some of our homies from the bay came down to visit for a weekend and we were showing them around. In the pic is Julie, Dan, Ricky and Andy at this place we call “the spot”. Can’t tell you where it is because its a secret…

Last summer at the US OPEN of surfing in Huntington Beach we saw all kinds of crazy shit. On one of the most hungover mornings ever, Annie and I were driving back to the pier to get to the skate contest and we saw this. I dunno if it was funnier than it should’ve been because we were still drunk or if it’s really just hilarious. Im going with the latter.

me stef and karen went to shanghai, china last month for x games asia. stef developed a fetish for little asian babies, she claims they are cuter than all other babies. I would have to agree with her in this case. this one’s name is “auwie” and she is the daughter of one of the japanese skaters. and yes, she is wearing a thrasher onesie. precious!
